Add walnuts, flax seeds and supplements that contain omega-3. Consult your doctor before taking supplements containing omega-3 if you are taking medications to thin the blood.
- Oils to replace in your diet are; corn oil, safflower oil and sunflower because they are high in omega-6 fatty acids oil with canola oil and or olive oil.
- Fruits to include in your diet high in antioxidants; blueberries cherries and pineapples are all good sources of anti inflammatory antioxidants.
- Use more spices in your foods. Studies have shown that curcumin, ginger, garlic and a number of other spices will help reduce arthritis inflammation.
What to Avoid For the Anti Inflammatory Diet
- The whites do the most damage and cause the inflammation consist of; salt, sugar, rice and white flower. Inflammation is increased when you consume white bread, pastas, cookies and sugary cereals.
- Avoid too much red meats they are much higher in levels of inflammatory fatty acids.
- The general rule is avoiding foods that raise your LDL cholesterol because of the inflammation caused by the low density. These are trans fats found in fried foods and your baked cookies and cakes are the culprits that raise your bad LDL cholesterol.
Joint Pain Relief Requires a Balance
Some tips include a little nap after lunch. Consider walking a mile after dinner. The secret is the right amount or rest and moderate exercise because too much of one and not enough of the other will cause more inflammation. Just as bad as not enough is over doing it. Too much exercise will add to the damage to your joints. Sit or rest too long and the joints stiffen up. Use moderation in everything from rest, exercise and diet to achieve a healthy balance to give you the most joint pain relief as possible.
